Describe an athlete/Sportsman you inspire.
What I want to talk about today is one of the most adored and inspirational sportsman on Earth right now — Indian Cricketing icon Virat Kohli! He is someone I have considered an idol since I was about 8 years old, and his journey from boy to one of the best batsman cricket has every known is exceptional.
Virat kohli is working as a cricketer of Indian professional and played for the Indian national team deader fifteen years. He is widely considered to be one of the best batsman in his generation and has set numerous batting records throughout his distinguished career. Born in Delhi in 1988 he grew up with a love of cricket which led him on to captain the Indian national team in all three formats.
From all that I have read and seen, Virat Kohli appears to be one of the most passionate, disciplined and hardworking individual in real life. He is known for being exceptionally competitive both on and off the court. He also advocates fitness very openly and has radically changed his life-style having a proper diet as well as a regular training routine over the years. Through being a global superstar, he speaks highly of staying grounded because he is basically attached to his family. He also follows charitable work and all social causes, so in addition to sports results he is someone who deserves praise.
The list of Virat Kohli’s endorsements is simply phenomenal. The standards of run chases in ODI cricket may never be the same again with MS Dhoni now holding the record for most centuries when chasing. He is well among the highest run-scorers of all-time, having amassed upwards of 26,000 international runs in all formats. India grew to be among the most dominant Test cricket teams in the world under his captaincy. He has received many of the most illustrious awards, including the ICC Cricketer of the Year multiple times. He was even included in Time magazine’s global list of 100 most influential people, and that alone goes a long way towards showing just how globally impactful he was beyond cricket.
There are many very personal reasons I admire Virat Kohli. Firstly, His work ethic and committment to improving is amazing. Fitness has never been easy for him (he was once described as ‘overweight and un-trainable’) but hard work, discipline and willpower transformed him into a man mountain. Secondly, his mentality really intrigues me — he always stands up to the pressure of must-win situations where millions are watching. His capacity to remain unattached, staying within himself and performing the outcome while risking at stake is something that I would love to incorporate into my life. And lastly, his hunger and desire to become the best has served as a constant reminder that talent by itself is never enough — consistency in hard work and mentality is ultimately what separates good players from great players.
